The Health, Safety & Environmental Test (HS&E Test) is a requirement for obtaining a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card in the UK. Here’s how to get it:

1. Understand the Test

• The HS&E test assesses knowledge of health, safety, and environmental issues relevant to working in construction.
• There are different types of tests, depending on your role (e.g., operative, supervisor, manager).

2. Book the Test

• Visit the official CITB HS&E Test website or call 07481 344255,
  to book the test.
• You’ll need:
  • A valid form of ID (e.g., passport or driving licence).
  • Your National Insurance number.

3. Prepare for the Test

• Use official study materials:
  • CITB HS&E revision books (available in hard copy or digital formats).
  • CITB HS&E app for practice questions.
• Practice questions cover topics like:
  • General health and safety.
  • Working at height.
  • Environmental awareness.

4. Attend the Test

• Tests are conducted at approved Pearson VUE test centres across the UK.
• Arrive 15 minutes early with your ID.
• The test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and lasts 45 minutes.

5. Pass and Receive Results

• You’ll get your result immediately after the test.
• A pass is usually required to apply for or renew a CSCS card.
